Update for this week
Hi All. We are off to a wonderful start with our track season - the MD team has had two successful meets and the Varsity team is prepared for a great meet tomorrow at IRCS. Please note that Field Events are scheduled to begin at 3:30, the 4x800 will begin at 4. Some important changes and clarifications to follow:
- The Middle Division meet at home will take place on MONDAY, MARCH 8th @ 4PM (please note date change) If this presents a problem for anything that you may have volunteered for, please email me ASAP.
- There are still many volunteer positions available for our two home meets: 3/8 and 3/11. Please see attached volunteer lists and email me if you would be willing to add your name to one of these open spots!
- The middle division runners have all received team UNIFORM t-shirts that they are wearing for meets. Uniform shirts are provided by SPS at no charge to the parents. Team t-shirts will be ordered this FRIDAY 2/26 and are NOT required. If you wish for your child to have one of these shirts, please email me the size you would like. The charge for this shirt is $10 and will be billed through the business office.
- Team parents have determined that $15 will be billed through the business office for team dues.
- No MD practice tomorrow, 2/25, while the Varsity team is at the IRCS meet.
- Both teams WILL practice Friday 2/26.

Parent Meeting Update
Thanks to all the parents who joined us yesterday for our meeting. We appreciate your time! For those of you who were unable to make it, following are the items discussed.
- Middle Division runners will wear t-shirts provided by Shorecrest with PE shorts. Varsity runners will wear the Shorecrest uniform.
- Christi Mills and Janet Peterson will be our team parents for the MD team, Bethsabe Bockman-Pedersen and Valerie Rice for Varsity. Once they determine an appropriate amount for each runner for snacks, it will be billed through the business office. A huge thank you for your help!
- Team t-shirts will be ordered next week. If you would like for your child to have one, please email me with his or her size. They will probably be around $10 and they are not required.
- Please see the volunteer sign-up attached and email me if you are able to fill in any of the open spots. The Middle Division home meet is Tuesday March 9th and the Varsity meet is Thursday March 11th.
- Any Varsity athletes who wish to drive MUST turn in the authorization form that is available in the athletic office. Any students who have not turned this form in by Friday will ride on the bus to Keswick.
- Any athletes leaving with parents from meets must be signed out on the sheet that will be in the team area at each meet.
- Sometime in the next few weeks we will be coordinating our team's community service opportunity. Please be on the look out for this information and make every effort to allow your child to participate.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We will not practice on Friday or Monday and the first MD meet is on Tuesday. Enjoy the long weekend!

Welcome to 2010 Track!
Hi Everyone. Wanted to send you an update on the Track season for the weeks ahead. Conditioning has gone very well - the kids are doing well and improving each day, and beginning to really understand what it will take to have a successful season. Next week we will begin our normal practice schedule M-F 3:20 - 4:30, Varsity athletes may be expected to stay later some days but we will try to let them know in advance when this will occur.
Our schedule has been posted online (www.shorecrest.org then look for schedules under Athletics) and you can visit our blog - http://shorecresttrack.blogspot.com/ - for team updates and information. We will have a parent meeting Wednesday, February 10th immediately following practice to discuss all the details of the season.
Our first meets are Middle Division - February 16th (Northside Christian 4PM) and Varsity - February 19th (Keswick Christian 4PM). All athletes are required to attend every practice, unless they are still participating in a winter sport. If for some reason (Club sport, school activity, appointment, etc.) your child will not be at practice, the coaches must be notified in advance. Please note that the number of entries for each event is limited to 4 or 5. Therefore participation in meets, especially at the Middle Division level, is directly related to attendance and participation at practice, not necessarily performance. Also, there may be some opportunities for Middle Division athletes to participate at the Varsity level. We will approach these opportunities individually, however, if this is something you think your child may be interested in, please let us know.
We are still in need of team parents - ideally 2 for each team. If this is something you might be willing to try, please email me ASAP. As always, feel free to contact us with any specific needs or concerns. We are looking forward to a great season!
